Gallstone Diet – Foods to Help Promote a Healthy Gallbladder

I know that a lot of our readers are involved in detoxification programs, which is great, but it’s really important that you’re focusing on including foods in your diet to keep your gallbladder healthy, strong, and working properly.

A healthy gallbladder is especially important if you are involved in a detoxification program. It’s important to include a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts in your diet as often as possible.

So here are some of my favorite foods to include in you diet that can aid in promoting a strong, healthy gallbladder.


First of all, you want to make sure that you’re eating plenty of foods that are rich in pectin. You can find pectin in foods like organic apples, citrus fruits like grapefruits, oranges, limes and lemons.

You can also find pectin in delicious strawberries. Make sure you always buy organic strawberries because they tend to be heavily sprayed with pesticides. Also, you’ll want to make sure that you’re getting your strawberries from a local organic farm, or just make sure that you’re washing them very thoroughly.

Omega-3 Fatty-Acids

In addition to foods with pectin, it’s important to include foods with omega-3 fatty-acids in your diet. You can find omega-3’s in foods like chia seeds, avocados, even olive oil and wild-caught salmon.

These are all great sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3’s are a nutrient that’s needed to help promote a healthy gallbladder.

Radishes and Beets

If you love radishes, you’re going to like this. Radishes are a great food to increase bile flow. Beets are another great food for your gallbladder.

Make sure that you steam these vegetables lightly. You can even eat your beets raw.

I like to dip them in some hummus for a nice boost in protein. These two vegetables are a really delicious way to promote a healthy gallbladder.

Foods Rich in Vitamin C

Foods that are rich in vitamin C are also going to be very beneficial to you. You can get vitamin C from oranges, bell pepper, and you can even get it from broccoli.

Leafy Green Vegetables

It’s also important to include a variety of leafy greens in your diet. This includes vegetables like kale, spinach, collards.

I personally love wheat grass. For one, it’s pretty and you just keep it out on your counter, but it’s also easy to include in different juices and smoothies.

So consider getting yourself a nice container of wheat grass and keeping it in your kitchen as a staple.
